Archers Guild Headquarters, Rockholme

Originally an old town house, the building has been extensively added to and extended even before it became the home of this fledgling Guild. The great oak which now dominates the open-air quad used to sit in the estate’s large garden, and its extensive wine cellar has been converted into a tavern called the Bull’s Eye, the core social area of the entire guild-house. Since the deserted town house was granted to the new Guild it has seen nine Guild masters step through its doors (Masters Rowan Battan, Talon Mayard, Geddon Dowr, Johannes Wolfe, Mat Luhhan, Lorelei of the Ravensguard, Max Kubicki, Kendrick Hobb and Dantarian Saethwr) and three Grand Masters have set policy within its walls (Grand Masters Battan, Dowr and Lorelei). Its history sits stark upon its face. From Gregor’s chiselled grave marker on the mighty oak and the ghost of the white lady who cries whenever a Guild member dies in the course of Guild Duty. From the rebuilt bay windows in the lounge where a Kendrick was thrown through the original window to go to an imperilled Suki’s aid, and to hidden passageways installed by secretive and devious Guild masters of the past.

The wooden plaque that sways in the breeze over the front door shows the image of the swooping owl designed by Mistress Talon. The stone cobbles of the road outside leads on to the grey flagstones under the vaulted stone archway that leads into the Guild courtyard. A small passageway between the privies and the mess hall leads onto a stone path, that tracks its way past the baths, the servants’ quarters, the outdoor archery range and herb gardens down to the fast flowing stream that marks the edge of the property.
